If you talk to an Englishman about Wales they'll tell you that everyone has a 'funny accent' [it is a little sing-songy compared to an English lilt but it's really pleasant- Welsh, however, is strange] and their weather reputation is even worse than the northwest's! I was nervous about the rain/wind/cold since Dani and I had plans to be in the ocean but there was no need- it was stunning the entire weekend. Aside from the drive down... it was a hail storm! But that was the only rain we saw until the drive back... [thank you Macc for being the wettest place on the planet].
Manchester airport has the most inefficient car rental system. But we did finally get access to a wrong-side car! Off we go!
Hail. Quit that.
We made a little pit-stop in Droitwich for food [sundaes...] and I finally bought some Euro-mags. I can't wait to dive into them! Don't they just ooze temptation?
We got lost about a thousand times on the way down but I just don't mind traveling at all anymore. Any option that gets me out&about is fine by me! And as I've mentioned time and time again- cars are a beautiful delicacy at the present time in my life.
This was the view right out the front door of our B&B. Look at how expansive that beach is!! We weren't quite in Swansea- just down from it along the coast in a little town called The Mumbles. I'm so happy we were there, too. It was a quaint little beach-village with a pier and windblown pubs and a beautiful walking trail/boardwalk. I was smitten from the moment we took the keys out of the ignition.
The restaurant we ate dinner at had the most bewitching location. It was right on the edge of the boardwalk, overlooking the sea, and with the little bulb lights and the gentle tinkling of the tug boats it was just magical.
Sunset.
And just look at the view of Swansea at night- the way the city lit up the hills along the far shore... Like little fairy lights. I imagined a thousand Tinkerbells, haha.
But Day 2 was by far the best!
