Shallow Pockets Brimming with Remembrance

My father, like many people, is obsessed with The Beatles. What icons. He used to belt a verse from their hit 'A Day in the Life' every morning to wake me up for school as a child:

Woke up, fell out of bed
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup
And looking up, I noticed I was late [a bum, bum, bum]
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat...

I will always, always remember that song in my daddy's voice and improvisations. A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to travel to Liverpool to see the infamous {though maybe no longer original- it burnt down} Cavern Club where The Beatles first got their start. And- wanna know a fun fact about Liverpool? IT'S ALSO A SEASIDE TOWN. More ocean. More boats. More happy Amanda.

{They had these little dog statues all around Liverpool, like the Bulldogs in Athens or the Turtles in Sandy Springs.}

{I will never tire of red telephone booths. Ever.}

{We stumbled upon the Tate Museum in Liverpool. Free admission, yes please!}

{This was one of our favorites; we labeled it 'Consumerism'.

After our Liverpool adventure, Jonny and I headed to Wigan to celebrate Remembrance Day with his very close friends and compatriots. Remembrance Day is the same as our Veteran's Day. There was a parade and ceremony for various armed servicemen and women and I got to see my man in uniform ;) .

{My very favorite Marine.}
